Press Release: Tata Power organises Polio vaccination camp in Mundra, Gujarat

~ More than 102 children gets oral polio drops under the National Polio Eradication Programme ~

As a part of its philosophy to improve quality of life for the communities residing in and around its areas of operation, Tata Power’s wholly owned subsidiary – Coastal Gujarat Power Limited (CGPL) organised polio vaccination camp at Ashiyana Township, Mundra. More than 120 children between the age-groups of 0-5 years were given oral polio drops at the camp organised under the National Polio Eradication Programme.

The CGPL team through its focused health care initiatives has always tried to reach out to the most vulnerable groups in its surrounding areas. With this programme, CGPL has undertaken the initiative to support the national drive for polio eradication in association with both district and state health departments.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. K.K Sharma, CEO and ED, CGPL said, “We at Tata Power are committed to help our society, by carrying out such initiatives that majorly focuses on the healthcare of the communities in and around our projects. We are regularly undertaking developmental projects which cover areas, from health and education to livelihoods, women and child welfare to social infrastructure. We are proud to be associated with this initiative of National Polio Eradication Programme and look forward to organising more such events in the future. We also acknowledge the encouragement provided by the Gujarat Government for organising polio immunization camps in the area.”

In line with its philosophy, the Company has also begun the journey of community development to address developmental needs of its neighbouring communities. It includes exploring and engaging, building and formalizing, implementing actions and then continuously evaluating in a manner that institutionalizes relationship with communities. The initiatives span the theme of education, health, income generation and livelihood, natural resource management, infrastructure and institution building. The plant has successfully created 5000 construction jobs and 700 operations oriented jobs till date.Image
